Jaipur, Oct 09: Accusing the Centre of playing "cheap politics" on purchase of bajra, Congress today said the Rajasthan farmers who saw bumper harvest after four years were
facing a difficult situation following the delay in procurement of the grain by the Food Corporation of India(FCI).
Farmers are forced into distress sale at most places. If
the Centre's procuring agency FCI had to delay bajra
procurement on the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs. 505,
then why did Centre sanction Rs.125 crores and set up 75
procurement Centre, PCC chief Girija Vyas told reporters.
Just to get publicity and showing pro-farmer attitude, the Centre had announced the MSP for bajra, and then slowed down the process on the eve of assembly elections so that the congress government be blamed, she said.
Reacting to the BJP's criticism of power sector in the state, she said Rajasthan government "had made major strides in the country in this arena which were hailed even by the Prime Minister and the Power Ministry, it was ridiculous on their part the senior leaders were not aware of such achievement".
Not only the power generation had taken new targets up to 5087 mw but also transmission losses were reduced considerably she said, adding it would be for the first time that farmers would get full power supply during rabi crop season.
On CBI chargesheet against Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, she said, it was a political vendetta by the BJP government on the eve of assembly polls. Bureau Report
