Hyderabad, Nov 14: Andhra Pradesh Governor Surjeet Singh Barnala today dissolved the state assembly based on the recommendation of the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet.
Hyderabad, Nov 14: Andhra Pradesh Governor Surjeet Singh Barnala today dissolved the state assembly based on the recommendation of the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet.
Accepting the recommendation, the Governor asked Naidu and his council of ministers to continue in office as the caretaker government.
Earlier, a meeting of the cabinet, chaired by Naidu, adopted a resolution seeking dissolution of the 294-member House, ten months before the completion of its term, and fresh mandate from people.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Governor Surjeet Singh Barnala said, "I dissolve the legislative assembly in exercise of the powers conferred on me under Article 174 (2) (B) of the Constitution of India.
"However, I request you to kindly continue in office along with your colleagues in the council of ministers as a caretaker government," he wrote.
