Jammu, Aug 20: A month-long ban has been imposed on exploding of fire crackers in Jammu district keeping in mind the security situation in the region, an official spokesman said here today. However, the ban imposed by district magistrate, Jammu, Pawan Kotwal does not apply to crackers which do not produce any heavy sound, the spokesman said adding the ban would come into effect immediately.
The district magistrate has imposed the ban as crackers producing heavy noise can create confusion in the minds of security personnel, he said.
The confusion can lead to serious mishap under mistaken identity, he added.
