London, July 17: John Mcenroe is being asked to help Britain out of its tennis slump.
Britain's lawn tennis association said yesterday it is in talks with the seven-time grand slam winner after another poor performance by British players at Wimbledon.
"We hope he can come on board, we've given him dates, but it's not just about John," LTA performance director David Felgate said. "If he can come in for three or four days and work with the right players I'm sure he has got something to offer."
Tim Henman, who used to be coached by Felgate, was again the top Brit at Wimbledon this year, reaching the quarterfinals. He was the only one of 10 men to reach the third round.

All five British women were beaten in the first round - the first time the country didn't have a single female representative in the second round since the Open era began in 1968.

The last British player to win a grand slam was Virginia Wade at Wimbledon in 1977. The last male player to win at major was Fred Perry at the 1936 US Open.

The only male player to make a grand slam final since then was Greg Rusedski at the 1997 US Open.
