New Delhi, Oct 08: Following a series of special reports in The Pioneer on the garbage problem in the city, councillors cutting across the partylines questioned the functioning of the sanitation department of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Monday.

Councillors belonging to both the ruling Congress and the Opposition BJP, unanimously agreed that the Capital is in the grip of an unprecedented garbage menace. They were participating in a short notice discussion in the MCD House. So worked up were some councillors, that one of them, Congress' Khazan Singh said that councillors should be provided with wireless sets to contact the sanitation department as a near-epidemic like situation prevails in certain areas.
