Dehradun, July 11: In a fresh offensive, BJP today accused the N D Tiwari government of trying to avoid investigation into the unwed mother episode and sought its resignation on moral grounds.
"The CBI has refused to probe the issue and this only showed that the government was not sincere and avoiding investigation," BJP spokesman Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank told reporters here.
Stating that "no" FIR has been filed so far in the scandal that rocked the state last month, he said, "Our main demand is that the government must resign on moral grounds since CBI has refused to probe the scandal in which a congress minister harak singh rawat had to quit the cabinet on June 18." However, Information Minister Indira Hridayesh said the government was awaiting an official reply from CBI before making any statement.
CBI has sought certain queries from the state home department regarding the unwed mother episode, she said. "We are committed to extend all cooperation to cbi for bringing out the truth in the episode," Hridayesh said. Bureau Report
