A Power Lunch Worth $250,100

New York, July 14: A power lunch date with US investing icon Warren Buffett has fetched USD 250,100 on the online auction house Ebay.
The winning bidder was not identified, but quickly showed his own entrepreneurial mettle by trying to sell on one of the eight places purchased at the lunch table.
The final bid, made Thursday evening, was 10 times higher then for previous lunch dates with Buffett.
The 72-year-old financier -- listed by Forbes magazine as the second-richest person in the world after Bill Gates -- annually auctions lunch dates in support of Glide, a San Francisco-based charity for the homeless.
The latest auction offered a meal in a New York City restaurant for the winning bidder and seven guests of his choice.
Just hours after the auction was concluded, Ebay carried another announcement -- presumably posted by the winner -- offering up one of the guest spots for sale.
"Do not have 200,000 dollars? Still want to win the chance to have lunch with Warren Buffett? I am reselling the chance to you," the announcement said.
The venue of the most expensive lunch date in town has yet to be decided. Buffett is a famous lover of junk food, counting a Coke and a burger among his favourite meals.
"Now I'll have to try and think of something to say," Buffett said when asked to react to the size of the final bid.
Asked if he would rather a meal in a Dairy Queen fast-food outlet, Buffett said: "that would be my choice, but I'll go wherever this person who paid 250,000 dollars wants to go."
