Chennai, Sept 13: On a day of gripping action, Uttam Singh Mundy emerged triumphant winning on the second-play off hole after he and C Muniyappa were tied at six-under par 282 at the end of the stipulated four rounds in the Hindu Open Golf 2003 here today. Mundy, who returned the best score of five-under today, bagged the first prize of Rs 1,13,400 while Bangalore-based Muniyappa got Rs 78,400.
This is 24-year-old Muniyappa's best ever finish. Muniyappa carded a three-under 69 today.
A stroke behind the leaders was Vijay Kumar who finished with a 5-under 283.89, though he played a par-round.
Amritinder Singh of Chandigarh also shared the limelight when he played a four-under 68 and had a hole-in-one on the par-3 fourth (147-yards). He was placed sixth overall (287).
L Selvadurai with a total score of 302 won the amateur section. Bureau Report
