Srinagar, June 17: Militants shot dead son of a ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) activist, abducted a civilian and exchanged fire with a BSF patrol party in separate incidents in Kashmir valley since last night, official sources said today. The sources said unidentified militants forced their entry into the house of a PDP activist Ali Mohammad Bhat at Pathripora village of Khiram last night and killed his 25-year-old son Sajjad Ahmad.
Ahmad was dragged out of his house by the ultras who were looking for his father and later shot him dead, the sources said, adding Bhat was not present in the house at the time of the incident.

In another incident, militants abducted one Abdul Qayoom Khan last night at Pothushahi village of Lolab in Kupwara district, sources said. Khan's whereabouts were not known and a hunt has been launched to trace him, the sources added.
The sources said militants opened fire on a road opening party of BSF at Sangrama on Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway early today, but none was hurt in the ensuing shootout.
Meanwhile, a policeman identified as constable Sajjad Ahmad was injured when his service rifle went off accidentally at district police lines Batmaloo in central Srinagar today.
A single bullet from his weapon pierced his arm in the accidental fire, the sources said, adding he was hospitalized.
