Mumbai, Aug 20: Senior BJP leader and former Maharashtra minister Vijay Girkar was today elected as the party's city unit chief, party sources said here. Girkar popularly known as `Bhai' succeeds Vinod Tawade, who completed his three-year term, they said. A formal announcement of Girkar's election as the next unit chief would be made at a function scheduled to be held this evening and to be attended by BJP's national general secretary Pramod Mahajan and national vice president Gopinath Munde among others.
