Mumbai, May 19: A special court today exempted film actor Sanjay Dutt and 86 other accused in 1993 bomb blast case for varying periods and directed CBI to make submissions on May 21 on the issue of joining co-accused Ejaz Pathan and Majnu Mustaffa in the same trial. In keeping with a judicial order, Sanjay and 86 other accused on bail appeared before designated judge P D Kode.
Sanjay has been permitted to visit UK, USA and Canada from May 22 to June 30 to perform in stage show "Jalwa-2003". He is exempted till then. However, the court asked his lawyer Farhana Shah to represent him in his absence and Sanjay was warned not to maintain contact with absconding accused. Other accused have been exempted till May 26.
Meanwhile, arguments would continue on May 21 joining co-accused Ejaz Pathan and Majnu Mustaffa in the trial. They were deported recently from Dubai and arrested at the stage when trial in the main case has already reached its fag end. CBI has already submitted a list of five witnesses it proposes to examine against Ejaz. In case of Majnu, a legal issue has cropped up because his name does not figure in the file of accused or absconding accused filed by CBI in the court. His involvement figured in the confession of co-accused. Bureau Report
