AICTE to regulate foreign tech universities
New Delhi, July 25: All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) will regulate entry and operation of foreign universities and institutions imparting technical education in India, MoS for Human Resource Development Vallabhbhai Kathiria said today in Rajya Sabha.
New Delhi, July 25: All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) will regulate entry and operation of foreign universities and institutions imparting technical education in India, MoS for Human Resource Development Vallabhbhai Kathiria said today in Rajya Sabha.
“The AICTE regulations for entry and operation of foreign universities/institutions imparting technical education in India stipulates that, on its commencement (i.e. from May 6, 2003), no foreign university/institution shall establish/operate its educational activity in India leading to award of
diplomas/degrees including postgraduate and doctoral in technical education without express permission/approval of AICTE," Kathiria said in written reply to a query.
To another question, he said no investigation has been launched to verify bonafide of foreign universities.
"Accreditation by the authorised agencies in the parent country with higher grades where grading is available shall be a pre-requisite condition for any foreign university/institute to start its operation for imparting technical education in India," he added.
