Silverstone, July 19: Jordan Ford will be on home territory for this weekend's British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the team's headquarters being located within sight of the Northamptonshire racing circuit which housed Eddie Jordan's lock-up garage premises when he entered F1 thirteen years ago. After some disappointing results in recent races the team is feeling positive about its home Grand Prix as there have been a number of opportunities for them to test at this track. The team have only scored one point since Giancarlo Fisichella unexpectedly won the Brazilian Grand Prix in wet conditions, Ralph Firman's eighth place in Spain six races ago. In the most recent grand prix at Magny-Cours in France the teams lack of resources and testing time showed, with Fisichella and Firman qualifying in 17th and 18th place respectively. British rookie Firman is still finding his feet in Formula One but the Italian Fisichella has made no secret of the fact that he wants a more competitive drive next season.

But, speaking on Friday (July 18), Eddie Jordan was upbeat about his team's chances of upsetting the big manufacturers, especially if the race was affected by rain.

Jordan also spoke about the future of Silverstone as the circuit was being readied for this weekend's British Grand Prix which is expected to attract around 100,000 spectators.

The circuit has been regularly slated by Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone, who last month branded it an embarrassment and the year before as a country fair masquerading as a world event.

FIA President Mosley told reporters last week that Silverstone was 'fairly well down the list of circuits worldwide and probably at the bottom of the list in Europe'.

But the Jordan boss said he thought the track itself was currently the best in Grand Prix racing for both safety and entertainment. He said that although access to the track had been greatly improved there was still work to be done on facilities in the pits and for spectators to bring Silverstone in line with the rest of the world.
