Srinagar, Dec 08: Police raided house of Firdous Ahmad Shah, chairman of Democratic Political Movement, a constituent of Syed Ali Shah-led Hurriyat Conference, and detained him last night in connection with stone-pelting incidents at Maisuma here, official sources said today.
The Maisuma incident occurred when Shah and his supporters were reportedly trying to enforce a strike called by Geelani to protest the government's decision of disallowing the conference from holding a public meeting on December 06, they said.
Shah, lodged in Kothibagh police station, was detained from his Abi Guzar residence in the heart of the city, they said.
The government decided not to permit the conference from holding the meeting as the date coincided with the 11th anniversary of Babri mosque demolition.
