Dhaka, Nov 13: A city court has issued an interim injunction on
the sale, reprint and distribution of a controversial book by writer
Taslima Nasreen.
Dhaka's Joint District Judge Golam Kibria yesterday directed the author, printer and publisher to show cause in 15 days why a permanent injunction should not be issued on the book, titled ‘Ka’, which contains passages in which Taslima has described her sexual relations with friends in Bangladesh's literary circles.
The court order was issued on a petition by eminent writer Syed Shamsul Haq, who had earlier filed a defamation suit against Taslima for ''implicating him in her sex life''. The defamation suit will be heard today.
The government was also directed to seize all copies of the book that can be found.
