Bhopal, Aug 04: Ruling out any tie-up with BSP for Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, BJP today said that its alliance with that party would be confined to Uttar Pradesh in view of the "special" political scenario in that state. "BJP's alliance with BSP is confined to Uttar Pradesh and it will remain so. BJP-BSP tie-up in Uttar Pradesh is based on the special political situation there,” BJP national general secretary Pramod Mahajan told reporters here after a meeting of the party's Madhya Pradesh election committee.

He said that there were two options before BJP, after Samajwadi Party emerged as the single largest party in Uttar Pradesh in the last assembly elections - either fresh polls or a coalition government in alliance with BSP.
Since BJP ideology is different from that of Samajwadi Party, the party thought it proper to enter into an understanding with BSP, he said, adding that fresh elections would have put enormous financial burden on the people.

Mahajan said that BJP would have an understanding with BSP only in Uttar Pradesh for the next Lok Sabha elections.

He said that an academic discussion is going on regarding Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani's suggestion for simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections.
