New Delhi, Nov 16: NDA convernor George Fernandes tonight spoke to Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, whose party has of late been talking of issue-based support to the coalition and urged her to join the government.

In a telephonic talk with Banerjee on the eve of Parliament`s winter session, Fernandes told the firebrand TC leader that differences and misunderstandings among NDA partners were "not beyond an amicable solution" and that Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee should be trusted in this regard. "There is a whole-hearted support for Banerjee among all members of the NDA in her relentless struggle against communist misrule and corruption in West Bengal," Fernandes said, according to sources close to the NDA convenor.

Fernandes said that former West Bengal chief minister Jyoti Basu`s recent statement about growing corruption in the state "vindicated Banerjee`s charges against the state government." Trinamool Congress has been maintaining distance since the Union Cabinet endorsed Eastern Railway Zone bifurcation.
