New Delhi, May 30: A Delhi court today issued summons to Hari Krishna, who had alleged that the shootout at Ansal Plaza last year was "stage-managed,” after the Delhi Police's application to prosecute him was admitted.
The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sangeeta Dhingra Sehgal took cognizance of the application filed by the south district of Delhi Police and asked Krishna to appear before the court on August 4.
The case was shifted from special cell of the Delhi Police to south district last year following widespread criticism and claims by Krishna that the encounter at Ansal Plaza was stage managed on the eve of Deepawali last year.
After investigations into the case especially the allegations made by Krishna, the Delhi Police filed an application seeking sanction to prosecute him for his alleged fake statements made to the investigating officer before the special court of S N Dhingra, who gave his permission on March 27.
After receiving the sanction, the Delhi Police filed a complaint in the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on April 21 alleging Krishna of giving false statements and not giving true picture of the encounter.
The Delhi Police has charged him under section 179 and 203 of the Indian Penal Code.
Delhi Police had shot dead two militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba on November three last year at the busy Ansal Plaza in South Delhi.
