Colombo, Nov 04: Sri Lanka President Chandrika Kumaratunga today suspended Parliament for two weeks after sacking three senior ministers in a major confrontation with
her cohabitation government, a parliamentary official said.
Kumaratunga in a letter to speaker Joseph Michael Perera
said the assembly will be prorogued until November 19,
effectively scuttling the government's annual budget which
was to have been unveiled on November 12.
The President gave no reason for her move which followed the sacking of Ministers of Defence, Interior and Information in her worst crisis with the government of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
