Ajmer, Nov 07: The annual Pushkar fair has attracted two lakh pilgrims and 4,000 foreign tourists, with cattle worth Rs five crore already sold, official sources said today.
The pilgrims will take a holy dip in Pushkar lake, 15 km
from here, tomorrow on the occasion of 'Kartik Purnima', the
sources said.
Visitors from abroad were seen enjoying themselves at the five-day fair and a 19-year-old German woman, Leoba, won the Indian brides competition for foreign tourists yesterday.
Others took part in camel and horse riding, camel cart drive and watched acrobats, snake charmers and rural women of Rajasthan in colourful dresses and ornaments.
There was no dearth of entertainment for the Indians, either. One Ram Nath of Jaipur district, specially invited for the fair, attracted many due to his long moustache and ability to play flute with his nostrils.
Nath had displayed his skill before former US President Bill Clinton during his visit to Jaipur a few years ago.
Officials said the good 'Kharif' crop this year was responsible for the heavy buying by pilgrims. Cattle worth Rs five crore have been sold so far, they said. Bureau Report
