Hyderabad, May 11: While graciously conceding defeat at the hands of Congress party after a decade-old rule in the state, Telegu Desham Party chief Chandrababu Naidu today met Governor S S Barnala and submitted his resignation. He earlier called a press conference in which he thanked his supporters for their support through all his ups and downs.

The Congress legislature party is meeting here tomorrow to elect the Chief Minister who in all probability would be Y S Rajsekhar Reddy. Cong ends TDP's decade-long rule in Andhra Pradesh

The Congress-led alliance comprising Telengana Rashtra Samiti and the Left parties have won 172 seats and was leading in 48 others. On its own the Congress has won 139 seats and was leading in 39. The TRS has won 21 and was leading in seven others. The other allies CPM and CPI have won seven and five seats respectively and were leading in one each. The ruling TDP which had 192 seats in the dissloved assembly has so far managed to win only 33 and was leading in 21 others. Its ally BJP has won just two seats and was leading in one more.

As the results started pouring in, Naidu conceded defeat and announced his decision to tender his resignation to the Governor.
