Bangalore, Jun 02: AstraZeneca chief executive officer Sir Tom McKillop inaugurated here today, the global pharma major's USD 40 million discovery research facility, its first outside the US and Europe. One of AstraZeneca's nine global R&D centres, it is set-up exclusively to conduct research on tuberculosis (TB) and other infectious diseases in the developing world, company officials said. The facility, which has a research team of 60 scientists has a mission of developing a new TB drug, the first new drug for the disease since 1964. Bureau Report
