New Delhi, Feb 04: A core team of ITBP personnel will be sent to Afghanistan for providing security to Indian engineers who are to construct a road from Zaranj to Delaram in the war-torn country. Disclosing this in Lok Sabha today, Minister of State for External Affairs Digvijay Singh said in a written reply that India would be undertaking the construction of the road from Zaranj to Delaram.

Security to the members of the Indian organisation and workers on the project would be provided by a core team of security personnel from ITBP to be present on the ground. This has been done keeping in view the security situation in the war-torn country. Turban :

India has sensitised the French government about New Delhi's concerns on the proposed ban in schools in that country on wearing turban.

Digvijay Singh said in reply to another question that the Indian Embassy in Paris was also interacting with representatives of the Sikh community and the French government for resolving the issue. Bureau Report
