Seattle, Aug 16: DHL Express on Friday said that it had completed its acquisition of the ground-express delivery operations of Seattle-based Airborne Inc.
The completion follows shareholders' overwhelming approval of the $1.05 billion deal on Thursday.

It is unclear what the sale's effect will be on the more than 1,100 workers in Airborne's operations.

The company is in the process of reviewing its resources and will be making announcements with regards to integration in due course.

DHL is a unit of German postal service Deutsche Post AG. To satisfy federal rules prohibiting more than a 25 per cent stake in US airlines by foreign owners, Airborne and DHL on Friday spun off Airborne's Wilmington, Ohio-based airline-delivery unit as a separate company, ABX Air.
