Kolkata, Dec 24: Air traffic to and from Kolkata was interrupted for several hours as a dense fog engulfed the NSC Bose International Airport here early this morning, official sources said. Departures of about ten flights including six belonging to Alliance Air and Indian Airlines took off for their destinations two to three hours behind schedule.

Alliance Air's flight to Port Blair, scheduled to leave at 5 am, was the first plane to take off from the airport at 8.45 am when the visibility conditions improved. Arrivals of the planes from different parts of the country to Kolkata including Mumbai and Delhi were also delayed because of a dense fog in and around the airport, airlines sources said.
