Chennai, Oct 07: Four cinema houses in the city had stopped screening of 'Thegam', Tamil version of Bollywood box office hit 'Jism', following protests from Congressmen, alleging that the version had derogatory references to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, her daughter Priyanka and AICC general secretary Kamalnath. On Sunday night, a group of congressmen led by north Chennai district Congress committee, Royapuram Mano, staged a demonstration in front of a cinema house in north Chennai protesting against the screening of the film.

He was arrested and remanded to 15 days' judicial custody on charges of breaking the glasspanes of the cinema house.

TNCC working president E V K S Elangovan spoke to the owners of the cinema houses, screening the film and requested them to stop exhibiting it.

The owners had accepted the request and stopped screening of the film, Elangovan said.
