New Delhi, Sept 25: Air India today announced slashing of its fares by 15 to 25 per cent to destinations in the US and Europe between October and December to attract passengers in the ensuing winter season, while keeping its other promotional schemes intact. The special fares have been introduced for London, Paris, Frankfurt, New York, Newark and Chicago, an AI release said, adding these rates would be 15 to 25 per cent lower than those applicable during the peak July-September period when the carrier recorded high occupancy. Promotional schemes have also been introduced for passengers travelling by first and executive class on these sectors. While passengers in the higher classes bound for Newark can now avail of a free hotel night in Paris, those travelling to London, Paris, Frankfurt and Newark would be provided limousine pick-up service at arrival and departure, the release said, adding this was in addition to the companion free scheme that passengers in first and executive class passengers are eligible on full IATA fare.
Air India's decision to slash fares for three winter months came in the backdrop of similar promotional fares announced last week by British Airways on its flights to UK. Bureau Report
