New Delhi, Sept 27: Charanjeet Singh alias Daboo, prime accused in a broad daylight bus robbery case in the capital earlier this month, was remanded to eight-day judicial custody by a city court today. The court also set October 5 for the test identification parade (tip) to enable witnesses to identify the accused. Earlier, Daboo was produced before a court at Karkardooma but was directed to be taken to Tis Hazari where a case of double murder is pending against him.
Daboo's lawyer submitted before the court that had it not been for his client's presence of mind, police would by now have killed him in a false encounter. Daboo ran into PCO booth as soon as he saw the police and alerted his family members who then followed up the matter, he added. Earlier, the police had arrested five members of the gang involved in the bus dacoity from Sarai Kale Khan area, but Daboo had managed to escape along with his associate Naseem.

The gang, armed with knives, boarded a Mudrika bus from Moti Bagh on September 5 and hijacked the bus after crossing Dhaula Kuan. They took control of the bus and kept on looting passengers till they reached Nariana village.
