Buoyed by the initial success of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), India is thinking of designing, developing and producing a fifth generation fighter plane as a successor to LCA, chairman of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited C G Krishnadas Nair said on Friday. “There is a strong design team in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and aeronautical development agency. It (the fifth generation fighter plane) should be a successor to LCA. We are thinking about it between HAL and DRDO, Nair told reporters at Bangalore.
Nair said that HAL is also planning a high-altitude Light Observation Helicopter (LOH), a three or four-seater one, which will have surveillance and ground observation applications. Bureau Report
