New Delhi, Aug 31: In a bid to strengthen its presence in the Arab world, IT training and education company NIIT is working on a number of initiatives to explore the vast potential of infotech education in that region. "Recognising the vast potential in the manpower development space in Middle East, NIIT chairman Rajendra S Pawar is leading a delegation of IT experts to Egypt next week," a company statement said, adding the upcoming third IT and Telecom Conference in Cairo signified the great expectations the region has from technology.

NIIT, which has 25 centres in the region, would aim at imparting IT education skills at the school level under its "NIIT at school" model where it would provide infotech education from kindergarten to higher secondary level, it said.
The other strategy is to implement the minimally invasive education model where learners gain knowledge on their own without a trainer through internet-enabled computers.

NIIT has already signed with Bibliotheca Alexandria, a library in Egypt, for this initiative to help young children learn computers.
NIIT runs a number of high-end IT education centres in Bahrain, Dubai, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Yemen in partnership with leading local business partners. Bureau Report
