Washington, Sept 19: Having recently concluded an agreement with the US for buying spares of Sikorsky S-61 Sea king helipcopters, India plans to buy electronic surveillance sensors to monitor infiltration of terrorists from Pakitan, a leading American analyst has said.
"For use along the Line of Control in Kashmir, India wants sensors that can detect people crawling, walking or running, and can operate in adverse conditions at ranges far beyond those achievable by other electro-optical or laser- based sensor systems," said John E Carbaugh, a Washington- based consultant in the latest issue of "India report."
Quoting from the Jane's Defence Weekly, he points that "India has a lot of new money to spend and a large proportion of it will be directed to U.S. suppliers."

Among the several deals in the pipeline are the P-3 Orion Maritime surveillance aircraft, GE engines for the Light Combat Aircraft project, C-130 Hercules aircraft and submarine rescue facilities.
US and India completed their first major weapons deal in more than a decade earlier this year when India bought 8 Raytheon Firefinder long-range weapon-locating radars for USD 146 million. Bureau Report
