Chandigarh, June 14: Heat wave conditions intensified today in most places in northern India with Hisar braving the maximum brunt at 46.2 degrees Celsius. Among other places in Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 43.4 C, up three degrees, the Meteorological Department here said.
Amritsar also experienced a hot day, recording a maximum of 44.0 C, while the highs at Ludhiana and Patiala settled at 43.5 C and 43.4 C respectively. Chandigarh had a hot and humid day as mercury rose by three degrees to touch 43.0 C.
Although Shimla was pleasant after the mercury there settled at 29.0 C, some places in Himachal Pradesh, including Sundernagar (40.2 C) and Bhuntar (36.2 C), were hot. The Met office has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh while duststorms or thunderstorms have been forecast at a few places in Punjab and Haryana.
