Kolkata, Feb 24: Indian Airlines will operate all the 24 flights as per schedule despite a Left-sponsored one-day industrial strike call except for one flight that has been rescheduled and a second which has been clubbed with another, an IA spokesman said today. Passengers of flight 7217 to Imphal will be sent to Guwahati by another IA flight. From there they would be flown to Imphal by an alliance air flight CD 7761.
The Indian Airlines morning flight to Mumbai IC 273 will leave Kolkata at 0800 hours instead of the scheduled 0630 hours.
Flights will also be operated to Bangkok and Dhaka as usual.
According to Airport Authority of India (AAI) director (eastern) Mr Rajendra Paul, arrangements have been made to maintain normal services at the NSCBI airport with the help of senior officers.
The state government has made special arrangements to ferry pilgrims returning from Haj to the city.
The special flight is expected to land here at 0730 hours. But he was apprehensive about public transport being not available for passengers arriving on other flights. British Airways and Singapore airlines have postponed all their flights to and from Kolkata scheduled for Tuesday by a day.
Bangladesh Biman will operate a combined flight to Dhaka and Chittagong during the day, sources said.
Jet Airways sources said many of the flights will be rescheduled in view of the 24-hour industrial strike.
