Guwahati, June 04: The relatives of those Ulfa militants who have been "forcefully" kept in jungles by the outfit have sought intervention of Assam Human Rights Commission to ensure the release of their kith and kin.
Under the banner of Assam Public Works Ulfa Pariyal Committee (APWUPC), the relatives have filed a petition before the AHRC to issue summons to now in hiding Ulfa "commander-in-chief" Paresh Barua in this regard.
The summons could be addressed to Barua's residence in the care of his mother Milika Barua of village Jarai Sakali Bharia in Dibrugarh district, they said.
Pointing out that poor family members and old parents were eagerly awaiting justice on the issue, the petition said the banned outfit was still recruiting a large number of youths from Nalbari, Kamrup, Barpeta and Darrang districts.
