New Delhi, June 06: Government tonight said that the suspension of Coal India limited chief N K Sharma on charges of corruption and misuse of official position followed an inquiry into the allegations against him and the action was not taken at the behest of the Prime Minister. "Administrative action against N K Sharma, CMD CIL, has been taken in course of inquiry into complaints against him. Reports appearing in certain section of the press that the action was taken on the direction of the Prime Minister are not correct," a spokesman of the coal ministry said here.

A departmental inquiry's finding stated that Sharma had abused his official position and favoured a particular party while assigning some mining work at Mahanadi coalfields.
