New Delhi, Nov 30: Dilip Singh Judeo, who resigned as a union minister following disclosure of footage purportedly showing him accepting money in a hotel room, and his personal secretary Natwar Rateria are expected to be questioned by the CBI this week, after which the agency would consider registering an fir in the cash-on-camera scam. Highly-placed CBI sources said both Judeo and Rateria were likely to be questioned this week after they were served notices by the agency to appear before it.
The sources said their questioning would help the agency in ascertaining whether to convert the preliminary enquiry into a regular case under the Prevention of Corruption Act or needs further probe.
The sources said Rateria's questioning would be the most crucial as he would help the agency in identifying other persons who were inside the hotel room when Judeo was allegedly being paid the bribe.
The CBI first wanted to find out what was the amount of bribe that was allegedly paid to the former minister and what was the favour sought against that.
The sources said further course of action would be chalked out only after completion of the questioning of the duo.
After registering a PE in the case, CBI director P C Sharma had directed the investigating unit to question Judeo and Rateria first, the sources said. Bureau Report
