July 22: Aravinda de Silva cruised to the 20th Test century of his career to put Sri Lanka in a commanding position at the Saravanamuttu Stadium.
The 36-year-old, Sri Lanka's all-time Test run scorer, had made 171 not out from 194 balls at tea, an innings including a six and 25 fours.
De Silva shared a stand of 150 Kumar Sangakkara to rescue their side after a bad start had seen them slump to 56 for three.
Sangakkara was eventually run out for 75 but skipper Sanath Jayasuriya made an unbeaten 51 to help give his side a lead of 190 at tea.
