Tezpur, May 27: Five persons, including three children, have died while more than 100 people have been affected by diarrhoea and cholera in five villages of Assam's Sonitpur district since May 16, health department sources said here today. The affected villages are Balisiha, Thiyaati, Gutibora Chuburi, Bandarmari and Rajowarbasti but the situation is now under control.

Health department sources said that 86 people were suffering from diarrhoea in Rahbari area while 11 people affected by diarrhoea and cholera were undergoing treatment at Kanaklata civil hospital and a seriously affected patient has been shifted to Guwahati Medical College hospital.
