Dehradun, Aug 21: In a move to give boost to its tourism industry, the Uttaranchal Tourism has decided to organise Uttaranchal “utsavs''(festivals) across the country highlighting the state's tourism potentials, Uttaranchal Tourism secretary Naresh Nandan Prasad said.
Cities including Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and Ahmedabad would host the festival in the coming months, he informed.
This would be an endeavour to explore the unexplored strengths of Uttaranchal, which is a land of colourful festivals, folk dances, music, rituals, and savoury cuisine, he said. Visitors to these festivals will be able to get acquainted with the customs, traditions and folk arts of the hill state, said Mr Prasad.
The tourism department will shortly be initiating a mass publicity campaign through the electronic media to promote the tourism potential of the state, said the tourism secretary. Advertisement films of thirty seconds to three-minute duration would be used to promote the state as an idyllic destination for pilgrimage, yoga, meditation and ayurvedic treatment, he said.
These films will be telecast on the key television channels and the campaign will be oriented to attract domestic and foreign tourists. Bureau Report
