London, July 18: Swing bowler Darren Gough was included today in the 12-man England squad for the first cricket Test against South Africa starting at Edgbaston next week. Gough has not played test cricket for England in two years after several knee injuries. He was part of the one-day team that beat South Africa in the final of the one-day series last Saturday. Fellow long-term absentee, batsman Graham Thorpe, was omitted however, with England selectors sticking with Anthony Mcgrath. England will play five Tests against South Africa. Squad: Nasser Hussain (captain), James Anderson, Mark Butcher, Andrew Flintoff, Ashley Giles, Darren Gough, Steve Harmison, James Kirtley, Anthony Mcgrath, Alec Stewart, Marcus Trescothick, Michael Vaughan.
