Mumbai, Aug 16: Sebi suspects that there is a parallel market where bets on stocks and unofficially trading are taking place. All settlements, it appears, are taking place in cash with no actual purchase of the stocks involved. Sebi feels that the size of this market is much larger than the reported volumes of the exchanges.
In addition, G N Bajpai is addressing small investors directly on a weekly basis under Sebi’s investor protection programme.
“I am asking investors to eschew herd mentality and go into the merits of companies before making investments,” the Sebi chairman said. Bureau Report
