New Delhi, June 04: The Feroze Shah Kotla ground here will soon get a facelift as the Delhi and District Cricket Association is planning to make it "one of the best in the country." "As a part of the effort, we have signed a contract with the Engineering Projects India Limited, which is a Government of India enterprise, for the expansion and construction of the new stadium at the ground," DDCA vice-president C K Khanna said here today.

He said after the construction the stadium will have a seating capacity of 50,000. At present the stadium has a capacity of 27,000.

Khanna said association president Arun Jaitley and general-secretary S P Bansal today signed the contract on behalf of DDCA.

On the pitch at the ground, which often draws criticism for being batsman-friendly and offering low-bounce, Khanna said a "new track would be laid as per the recommendations of the pitch committee of the cricket board."
