New Delhi, Oct 26: Concerned over "mudslinging" by
rival factions in Kerala Congress after Ernakulam Lok Sabha
bypoll debacle, Congress today sought an explanation from some
state leaders.
"We have asked some leaders belonging to the two factions
to explain why they are engaged in mudslinging... And why such
statements are emanating from them", AICC disciplinary action
committee chairman L P Sahi told mediapersons.
Sahi, however, did not name the leaders but when asked if
Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president K Muraleedharan
and K Karunakaran were among them, he said "no they are not...
But some ministers are".
He clarified that this was not a show-cause notice which
could be served on them depending upon their reply.
"Show-cause notices could be issued only after their
Explanation", he said.
Reports had it that the party was to slap show-cause
notices to three ministers Cadaver Sivadasan, P Sankaran and K
Sudhakaran and MLA P T Thomas for indulging in "indiscipline"
by making public statements in the wake of the party's defeat.
While Sivadasan and Sankaran belong to the Karunakaran faction the other two are from anti-Karunakaran faction.
Infighting in Congress has assumed fratricidal dimensions with the two factions hurling charges at each other at parallel conventions organised across the state.
