New Delhi, May 01: Beleaguered Abhijit Kale has received morale-boosting support from national captain Sourav Ganguly who said he did not believe that the first-class batsman could have offered bribe to selectors. "I find it difficult to believe that Abhijit Kale offered bribe to the selection committee. I have known him for a very long time and he is not the sort of person who will offer a bribe to anyone," Ganguly told.
Kale was summoned for hearing in Kolkata by the cricket board's disciplinary committee on Thursday.
Ganguly also said that matters of team selection should rest with the captain and was happy that the selectors had stood by him and supported his decisions.
"The support I have enjoyed from the selection committee is very encouraging and enjoyable," he said.
The skipper credited the recent victories in Pakistan to team effort and the support staff and said the players enjoyed a good rapport on and off the field.
"The seniors in the team all contribute towards creating a better atmosphere in the dressing room. Younger players like Parthiv Patel watch their seniors like Sachin, Kumble, Rahul Dravid and (coach) John Wright and learn to handle the situation from them."
