Ankara, Sept 17: Turkish security forces today detained 125 illegal immigrants, including some Indians in an eastern province bordering Iran, Anatolia News Agency reported. Although there were 86 Iraqis and 25 Iranians among the detained the whereabouts and numbers of the Indians were not known. The remainder were from Afghanistan and Pakistan. The immigrants were taken into custody after roadside and ID checks in several parts of van province. Six Turkish men were also detained for allegedly helping them enter the country. Turkey is a major route for Asian and African migrants seeking to enter Europe illegally with the help of smuggling rings.
