Restoration work on Konkan Railway route completed
Mumbai, June 25: The restoration work on the Konkan railway route, which witnessed a major rail disaster on Sunday night claiming 51 lives, was completed today.
Mumbai, June 25: The restoration work on the Konkan railway route, which witnessed a major rail disaster on Sunday night claiming 51 lives, was completed today.
Special measures were being taken to ensure intensive independent locomotive-based inspection every two hours in addition to the intensive walking patrolling which has been going on since monsoon started, Konkan Railway sources said.
The clearance of breakdown equipment would take another three hours, they said.
More than 100 cell phones were being provided for instant communication and forming a network for pre-warning, the sources said.
These special measures would be in force pending installation of other electronic detecting device for
monitoring the earth slopes throughout Konkan Railway, the sources said. All the rail services were expected to be normalised by 01800 hrs today.
