Kolkata, Feb 13: Their music has more than just notes and melody -- it has a healing touch for the ailing and a balm for lives torn apart by terrorism. Meet the eminent Kashmiri father-son duo of Pt Bhajan and Abhay Rustom Sopori, who have redefined the santoor to evolve two novel concepts -- the sound therapy for nervous ailments and a genre of anti-terrorism songs for a world where strife rules. "Music has traditionally been proved to have a positive effect on the human psyche and this theory has led us to evolve it as a therapeutic instrument," Pt bhajan Sopori told reporters here. The concept has spurred the musicians to compile the highly commended album 'Naad Yoga on Santoor'. Sopori is also talking to a number of national and international companies like ozone pharmaceuticals and a Tokyo-based music company to come up with similar therapeutic albums.
The duo has revived the unforgettable INA songs music immortalised by the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose School of Nationalism, complete with innovative santoor music.

"In these songs lie the essence of unity and integration. In times when Kashmir has become synonymous with terrorism, we thought of composing these anti-terrorism songs to bring solace to families affected by the malady," he said.
