Jammu, Feb 27: Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Finance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Muzaffar Hussain Baig today said the drive to restore power supply in snow-rain hit urban areas of the state had been stepped up but the process may take some time in rural areas. Responding to the issues raised by members during Zero Hour in state assembly, the minister said power supply had been restored in several areas where it had gone haywire due to heavy snow and rains. However, in some rural pockets it might take one to one and a half months to restore normal power supply, he added. Replacement of electric poles is a time and money consuming proposition for which over Rs 550 crore would be needed, Baig said.
