Maran`s medical expenses to be borne by his son, says Karuna
Chennai, June 18: DMK president M Karunanidhi has written to Prime Minister A B Vajpayee, stating that the entire medical expenditure of the now bed-ridden Union Minister, Murasoli Maran, would be borne by his son, Kalanidhi Maran.

"Though it is the practice of the central government to bear the medical expenses of its ministers, Kalanidhi Maran has decided to bear the entire medical expenditure of his father, Murasoli Maran," the DMK leader said in a statement here tonight.
Karunanidhi, who is the uncle of Murasoli Maran, also pointed out that the expenditure being incurred by Maran's family members, now in the United States, and the medical expenses for the treatment in Apollo Hospitals in Chennai had also been met by Kalanidhi Maran. Maran was shifted to Methodist Hospital, Houston for specialised treatment in November last and he is still undergoing treatment there.
