New Delhi, July 25: Members from Bihar today created an uproar in Lok Sabha over the worsening flood situation in the state even as the government assured that a central team would be sent there to assess the damage caused by the calamity.
Responding to the members' concern, Minister of State for home I D Swamy said a central team would visit the state to assess the damage after the state government sent a proposal.
The Centre would provide financial assistance on the basis of the team's report, he said.
Three IAF helicopters have been deployed there for the relief operation and two were standing by, he said, adding army boats were also being arranged.
The agitated members including Raghunath Jha and Prabhunath Singh (both Samata), Devendra Prasad Yadav (JD-U) and Raghuvans Prasad Singh (RJD) tried to raise the matter immediately after the question hour began but they were told by deputy Speaker P M Sayeed to speak during the discussion on the flood and drought situation in the country to be taken up during the day.
